The family (at least the line of the Baroque Architects, with their Saar's namesakes we have not found any relationship yet) came to Bohemia probably from the small town Mùggio in Swiss canton Ticino, near the Italian border.
Canton Ticino is independent from the year 1803, but the history of church administration is different. In the past the territory of Ticino was divided under the control of Como episcopate (with the parish of Mùggio) and Milano episcopate until 1885. Then the administration was moved on Basle episcopate and only in the year 1971 was based a new episcopate in Lugano. One family of Fortin still keeps a house in Mùggio but they live in Genova. In 1879 there was a local architect Giuseppe Fortini who worked on the reconstruction of parish church in Mùggio.
